It was the early 1950's, and the Miller Brewing Company had a plan to showcase its products and introduce a model for their newest high-tech brewery. The challenge was taking their marketing plans on the road. That is where the Miller High Life Cruiser came into the picture. The Miller High Life Cruiser, which was a 1953 Flexible coach, toured the country to showcase Miller High Life just as the beer was celebrating its 50th year in production.

Miller HighLife CruiserNow, of course, Miller High Life is celebrating its 100th year, and so the Miller Brewing Company had decided to bring the Miller High Life Cruiser back to life.

In May 2004, GMR Marketing and the Miller Brewing Company worked together to locate an exact replica of the 1953 Flexible coach, but it took the work of the crew at Jim's Truck & Trailer Coachwerks to transform that aging coach into the newest version of the Miller High Life Cruiser.

After sending the vehicle to a repair facility in Florida, a move which brought little progress over a period of several months, GMR contacted Jim Remlinger, president of Jim's Truck & Trailer Coachwerks. Not only did Remlinger learn that the 1953 coach needed to be refurbished into a cruising museum dedicated to Miller High Life beer, but he also learned that GMR had only a five-week window for a complete paint job. The crew at Jim's Truck & Trailer Coachwerks promised to do their best to meet the approaching deadline, and the company sent a lowboy to Florida to pick up the coach.

"When the coach arrived, we wondered what we were getting ourselves into," said Remlinger. "We were about to change our mind when we realized that it could be a fun and challenging project."

Lane Manning, a project manager for GMR Marketing, met with the Coackwerks crew, and it was decided what work was needed.

"One thing led to another, and, before we knew it, we werre doing a complete top-to-bottom refurbishing job, said Remlinger.

Remlinger's business, Jim's Truck & Trailer Coachwerks, does collision repair, work on high-end RVs and motorcoaches from all across the Unitied States.

The company has been in business for 33 years and dedicates 50,000 square feet to a well-equipped body shop. Its facility, which is located in Winona, MN also features a 15,000 square foot paint shop that includes a 60-foot downdraft bake booth, a 52-foot downdraft booth, a 35-foot prep bay downdraft and bus lift. The company does authorized Prevost service and warrranty work and uses a computerized alignment system.
